What started as a small-scale lubricant blending operation in Biratchowk, Nepal, has today grown into one of the leading lubricant manufacturers in the country.
2003: Humble Beginnings in Biratchowk
Our story began in the early 2000s when a group of passionate entrepreneurs from Eastern Nepal saw the growing demand for quality lubricants in the domestic market. At the time, the market was dominated by imported brands, and there was a clear gap between cost, availability, and locally relevant solutions.
With a bold vision to create Nepal’s own trusted lubricant brand, Purwanchal Lube Oil Pvt. Ltd. was officially registered in 2003, and a modest blending plant was set up in Biratchowk, Morang. The initial focus was on blending basic engine and gear oils suitable for two-wheelers and small vehicles.
2004–2008: Gaining Trust Through Quality
During the early years, the company worked tirelessly to develop formulations that matched international performance standards. Despite limited resources, the founders emphasized quality control, affordable pricing, and customer service. Slowly but steadily, local workshops and vehicle owners started trusting PLO products.
By 2008, the company had gained a solid reputation across Province 1, especially in the Eastern Terai and hill districts.
2009–2013: Expansion of Product Line and Market Reach
This period marked significant product development. PLO expanded its product portfolio to include:
- Multi-grade engine oils
- Hydraulic and transmission oils
- Greases and industrial lubricants
At the same time, distribution networks were built across Provinces 2 and Bagmati, allowing the company to serve a wider range of customers. Strategic partnerships with retailers, mechanics, and transport companies further boosted the brand’s credibility.
2014–2017: Certification and Professionalization
Recognizing the need for structured growth and international recognition, PLO invested in modernizing its manufacturing plant and quality assurance systems. As a result, the company achieved:

- ISO 14001:2015 certification for Environmental Management
With these certifications, PLO proved its commitment to global standards and sustainable practices. This era also saw the launch of sub-brands like One, Mega, and Star, each tailored to specific market segments.
2018–2020: Nationwide Growth and Brand Strengthening
By 2020, PLO had developed into a household name among auto workshops, truck drivers, and machine operators across all 7 provinces of Nepal. The company implemented:

- Branding campaigns and visibility in local markets
- Customized products for agriculture, transport, and industrial sectors
This period also involved capacity expansion in blending, bottling, and warehousing at the Biratchowk facility.
